…. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Luke 2:10
This is the last week before Christmas and some are already on the road to spend Christmas with family while others are preparing to travel soon and won’t be in church on Sunday so Merry Christmas to everyone! Rita and I are planning to be in Golden from the 24-26 to spend Christmas with our parents.
ABC will not be hosting a Christmas Eve service at ABC this year, but I have received an invitation extended to everyone at ABC from Wendy Adams at St. Andrews Presb. to join them for a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7:00 PM. There are other opportunities for Christmas Eve services in town and Vernon also.
The lead team has been praying and seeking an opportunity to bless a family who are in financial difficulty this Christmas season. We believe God has directed us to a family through a friend of Julie’s who provides foster care in the community. She is aware of 2 situations of people in desperate need and overwhelmed at the thought of ABC willing to help these people. ABC will provide for a Christmas meal and gifts for these folks (a family of seven, along with two teens, 18 & 15).
Julie and myself will pick up gifts & gift cards today & tomorrow and I’ll deliver them Friday afternoon. We would have liked to give a greater opportunity for church members to be personally involved in this, however due to becoming aware of the need at last minute it is difficult. One thing that has been suggested is that if anyone has some baking they wanted to contribute you could drop that off at the church Thursday or Friday morning.
I thinking that the Mayans might be wrong so am planning on things continuing into next year;)
Lifegroup will not meet until January.
Dec. 23: normal Sunday service
Dec. 30: normal Sunday service
Jan. 6: Free public skate 12:30-2:30
Jan 16: annual reports due
Jan 23: Early Years Fair – We have been asked if we would like to sponsor a craft table at the Early Years Fair (preschool kids). Early Years Fair is and initiative of the Boys & Girls Cub to inform parents of preschoolers about information and services offered in Armstrong. (kind of like a Trade Fair for preschoolers). This would require one or two people to do some kids crafts and provide parents with any info requested about ABC, on the morning of Wed. Jan 23.
Feb. 3: Breakfast at church followed by AGM & Sunday service
