Putting Others First

June 12, 2013

A mark of spiritual maturity is a willingness to sacrifice personal comfort in order to strengthen other believers.  The Apostle Paul urges us to pursue activities that promote peace, and to behave in ways that build others up.  Even though Paul recognized that he had a personal freedom in Christ, he didn’t consider his own rights or comforts as taking a greater priority over others.  His concern was to lead others to Christian maturity.  This is how Jesus related to his disciples.

As followers of Jesus, we should be so devoted to building up each other in faith that we are willing to even lay down our own lives.  This is what love is like among God’s people.

“Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another.  Romans 14:19″

News & Events

We’ve had some work done on the church driveway this week which should solve some of the dust issues and erosion problems we’ve had in the past.  Hopefully it will also be a great witness to our community that we want to be good neighbours and good stewards of what we’ve been blessed with.

  1. Wed. June 12, 7:00 PM: Hearing God Seminar.  The fourth of a five part series on Hearing God. Everybody welcome. Part 5 is next Wednesday June 19.
  2. Sunday, June 16: Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads!
  3. Monday, July 1:  ABC will be serving at the Kid Zone during Canada Celebrations this year.  We need volunteers to run & supervise the kids games at Memorial Park on Canada Day.  Even if you can only commit to helping for an hour, there’s a place for you to serve and your help is needed. Invite a friend and come have some fun serving the community!  Talk to Pastor Wayne about it.
