Attitude & Impact
June 19, 2013
Looking outside at the weather today I’m reminded that a flood begins with one drop of rain. So it is with the attitudes we take and the words we choose. Often it’s just with one word of complaint or criticism that a flood of hurt begins and washed out relationships result.
My mother would always tell me, if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.
God see’s grumbling and complaining as sinful. If it wasn’t for the intercession of Moses, judgement would have come upon the whole nation of Israel because of their complaining. The Apostle Paul admonishes the Colossian church to love and forgive instead of complaining, and to adopt and attitude of praise and thankfulness (Col. 3:13 &16).
There will always be something or someone we could find fault with, but instead of blaming and complaining, God wants us to edify and encourage each other and in doing so we glorify Him.
ABC is a church where people encourage and build each other up. Let’s grow in that spirit and not let even one drop of rain dampen the attitude of love for one other, or our Lord.
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:16″
